Kitchen Hack: Creative Hot Dog "Bun" with Bonus Cheese Sauce Recipe

Out of hot dog buns? No problemo! Use a potato instead! Boil the potato with the skin on for 20-25 minutes. Slice down the middle of the potato but don't cut all the way through. Sprinkle with some salt, stick your weenie on top and you have a "potato bun"! Add some veggies on the side and you have yourself a complete meal. Make it gourmet by adding some cheese sauce, crumbled bacon and scallions

Looking for an easy cheese sauce recipe? It is if I have read your mind! This sauce has only three ingredients that you probably already have and only takes 5 minutes to cook.

Three Ingredient Homemade Cheese Sauce Recipe courtesy of Culinary Hill

Ingredients:
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (It’s okay to use pre-shredded cheese here. Although they are tossed with agents to prevent the cheese from sticking together, it will still melt and thicken up fine. )
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Instructions:
1. In a small saucepan, combine cheddar cheese and cornstarch. Toss until cheese is evenly coated.
2. Stir in evaporated milk and salt and pepper to taste (I like 1 teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper).
3. Heat over medium-high heat, whisking occasionally, until cheese is melted and smooth, about 3 to 5 minutes.
4.. Reduce heat to low, cover, and keep warm until serving time. Or, transfer to a slow cooker on the "warm" setting for serving.

NOTE: Like it spicy? Try adding a few shakes of hot sauce or a 4-ounce canned of diced green chilis.
